Sergio Rollón, one month after the Valdetorres tragedy: "Seeing so much blood made me understand the seriousness of the goring."

Exactly one month has passed since Sergio Rollón suffered the most serious goring of the summer so far. Enough time for the 18-year-old young bullfighter to fully realize that he was close to losing his life.
At the press conference held by Rollón at Las Ventas, the word "thank you" was repeated repeatedly. These words of gratitude extended to his friend Daniel González, rancher of Los Lastrones, and to Jesús Robledo "Tito," who used his hand to plug the hole through which blood was pouring and life was escaping. To Juan Asanza , surgeon at the Valdetorres de Jarama bullring, who managed to stabilize him despite the profuse bleeding. To the 112 technicians who transported him by helicopter to La Paz Hospital. To his manager, Luis González. To Dr. Andrés Salazar, who performed the following two vascular surgeries. To the hospital's nursing team. To his family. And even to the bull "Gorrino," owned by the González Brothers, who, in his own words, "has reaffirmed my determination to be a bullfighter."
All the thanks were given in a heartfelt speech in which he recounted his experience with unprecedented maturity. His hospitalization lasted 20 days. He is now immersed in rehabilitation and mental recovery with the help of coach Javier Portal . Following common sense, he has ruled out fighting in the bullfights scheduled for 2025, in order to achieve optimal recovery before returning to the ring.
The goring that shook bullfighting with its severity—in a bullfight at the Madrid Circuit televised by Telemadrid—reached Scarpa's triangle, causing a wound with two trajectories (one lateral and one inferior) that affected the femoral artery and vein, triggering massive hemorrhage that endangered Sergio Rollón's life.
They showed their support to the young bullfighter from the stalls of the packed Antonio Bienvenida hall in Las Ventas many fans as well as different personalities such as Miguel Martín -managing director of the bullfighting affairs center of the Community of Madrid-, José María de Diego -mayor of Valdetorres de Jarama-, Ignacio López -president of the El Juli Foundation (bullfighting school to which he belongs), colleagues from the school based in Arganda del Rey and teachers: Ángel Gómez Escorial and Víctor Hugo Saugar 'Pirri' as well as different members of the bullfighting council of the Community of Madrid such as Dr. Luis Madero, Wiliam Cárdenas or Juan José Urquía .
